GENERAL INFORMATION:
Accelerated Reader is a reading motivation program designed to help students become stronger readers through targeted reading practice. A.R. is used to help keep students engaged in reading and to monitor their comprehension.
KINDERGARTEN STUDENTS:
Kindergarten students may use A.R. at the discretion of your child's teacher for enrichment only. No point goals are set for Kindergarten students. Any participation in A.R. will be for practice only.
1st -5th GRADE STUDENTS:
It is strongly recommended that students in grades 1-5 participate in A.R. All students in grades 1-5 will have an A.R. point goal to work towards. Specific information about students goals/reading level is provided by the students' classroom teacher.
Please note: In order to meet the goal, your child must meet two criteria: have an average percent correct on quizzes of 85% or higher AND obtain the number of points required by his/her goal.

- Grade Level Class challenge:
- Each week the # of passed quizzes taken per class are updated on the visual tracker and the leading class is acknowledged on Jag News.
- Individual Incentives:
- Students who have met their both point goal and comprehension goal (quiz average of 85% or higher) will receive a small incentive at the end of the quarter.
- Students who meet their A.R. goal (both points and quiz average of 85% or higher) Quarters 1-3 will receive a special incentive during 4th quarter.
